Robotic demolition uses compact, remote-controlled demolition machines fitted with a hydraulic breaker, crusher, shear or bucket. The operator stands at a safe distance with a handheld controller, so nobody is under the hammer or breathing the dust. The machines are small enough to fit through a standard doorway or into a lift, yet hit harder than a much larger excavator.
Anywhere access is tight, structure is sensitive or the environment is hazardous: basements, plant rooms, lift shafts, stairwells, bridges and culverts, kilns and furnaces, live industrial facilities, and any job where a 20-tonne excavator won't fit or a crew on jackhammers would take weeks.
It depends on the concrete, but a demolition robot typically replaces five to ten labourers on hand-held breakers and removes the fatigue, vibration and rotation issues that slow a manual crew down. On most interior jobs we finish in days, not weeks.
